Best areas to stay in Antibes compared
Did you know that the municipality’s official name is not just Antibes but Antibes – Juan-les-Pins? Even though they feel like two distinct destinations, they actually form one coastal city.
Each part of Antibes has a very different personality. Whether you want historic charm, sandy beaches, and nightlife, or a secluded luxury escape, the right location can completely shape your experience. Here’s what you need to know before you book your stay in Antibes.
Antibes Old Town & City Center

The historic heart of Antibes is a maze of cobbled lanes, lively squares, and vibrant Provençal life. Here you’ll find the Marché Provençal, boutique shops, charming cafés, bistro terraces, and cultural highlights like the Picasso Museum, the medieval ramparts, and the postcard-worthy Safranier district. Vieil Antibes is a walkable area, making this the perfect base without a car, especially for a visit focused on food and sightseeing.
Three beaches are within walking distance: Plage de la Gravette just outside the walls, and the family-friendly Plage du Ponteil and Plage de la Salis further south. They’re compact but convenient, ideal for combining a day of exploring with a refreshing swim.
This area includes the Old Town and the central and coastal parts of Antibes, extending toward Salis. I don’t include the residential suburbs north of the railway line, because they’re too far from the sightseeing action and lack the coastal character you’re coming for.
The Old Town is the best place to stay in Antibes for charm, sightseeing, food lovers & a car-free stay
Best for:
Sightseeing, restaurants, beaches, Provençal atmosphere day and night, authentic feel, visit without a car.
Downsides:
Can feel busy in July–August, limited parking near the Old Town core.

Cap d’Antibes

A lush, exclusive peninsula between Antibes and Juan-les-Pins, Cap d’Antibes is known for its elegant villas, peaceful gardens, and scenic coastal panoramas. Highlights include the Cap d’Antibes coastal trail, a well-known stretch of the Sentier du Littoral network of coastal paths, the romantic Villa Eilenroc with its rose garden, and the botanical Jardin Thuret. This is where you come for privacy, sea views, and slow travel, a luxe retreat away from busy resort life.
The beaches here are some of the most beautiful on the French Riviera: Plage de la Garoupe, Plage des Ondes, and the dramatic coves around Billionaires’ Bay. Some require a walk, but you’re rewarded with incredible scenery and clear turquoise water. A car is very convenient in this residential area, since it’s spread out and not within walking distance of the city center.
Cap d’Antibes is the best area to stay in Antibes for privacy, scenic beaches & exclusive luxury.
Best for:
Tranquility, nature, sea views, villa stays.
Downsides:
Limited nightlife, spread-out location (getting to the Old Town requires a car or bus ride).
Important seasonal note:
Most hotels and beach clubs in this area close between mid-October and mid-April. If you’re visiting Antibes in fall or winter, you’ll find the best availability and atmosphere in the Old Town & City Center.

Juan-les-Pins

Juan-les-Pins is Antibes’ lively seaside resort, known for its long sandy beaches, beach clubs, upbeat summer vibe, and palm-lined promenades. It’s less historic than Antibes proper, and that’s exactly why many travelers love it. You’ll find plenty of cafés, cocktail bars, and buzzing restaurants near La Pinède park, and if you visit in July, the Jazz à Juan festival adds a legendary touch.
Hotels are more varied here than in Antibes Old Town: from boutique options to better-value mid-range stays, with a few beachfront properties. Water sports are easy to organize, and sunset strolls along the bay are a highlight. Just keep in mind: it’s livelier and more resort-style than atmospheric.
Juan-les-Pins is the best area to stay in Antibes for sandy beaches, nightlife & a carefree holiday vibe.
Best for:
Beach clubs, nightlife & easy beach access.
Downsides:
Less authentic, busy in summer.
Important seasonal note:
Many hotels, beach clubs, and restaurants in Juan-les-Pins shut down for the winter season (mid-October to mid-April). For winter trips, staying in the Old Town & City Center is your best option.

More places to stay near Antibes
The wider Antibes region has a few additional areas just outside the main neighborhoods mentioned above. These places offer good value, quieter surroundings, or easy beach access, but they do sit farther from the historic center and Antibes’ main attractions. Still, depending on your travel style, they may suit you well.
Golfe-Juan

Golfe-Juan is the seaside part of the commune of Vallauris – Golfe-Juan, known for its pottery and Picasso heritage. It offers a relaxed marina vibe with restaurants and bars along the waterfront and a sandy bay that seamlessly connects to Juan-les-Pins. It’s a good alternative if you want to stay close to the beach, but still within a short hop to Antibes and Cannes.
There are some charming places to stay here, including La Bâtisse en Blanc, with a boutique feel close to the beachfront, and Blanc Sable Hôtel, a stylish base with a pool that’s family-friendly and affordable.
Villeneuve-Loubet

Villeneuve-Loubet is another coastal option with long stretches of beach, water sports, and easy access by train. The seaside part – Villeneuve-Loubet-Plage – is dominated by the striking architecture of Marina Baie des Anges, a wave-shaped complex of terraces that rises dramatically above the shoreline. The nearby Hippodrome de la Côte d’Azur also brings a lively atmosphere on race days. Inland, the old town of Villeneuve-Loubet charms with its Provençal flair. It’s the birthplace of legendary chef Auguste Escoffier.
Accommodation here includes Villa Louise-Rose, set in a delightful garden, and Villa Azur, offering beachfront convenience. The quieter atmosphere is especially appealing if you’re road-tripping along the Riviera and require an easily accessible base steps from the sea.
Biot

A few kilometers inland, Biot is a characterful medieval village known for its glass-blowing and ceramics traditions. It’s a lovely choice if you prefer art, history, and slow Provençal living over beach clubs. The Fernand Léger Museum and artisan galleries add culture to your stay, and the village has quick bus and taxi connections to Antibes’ beaches.
There are a couple of beautiful boutique stays here, such as La Bastide de Biot and Auberge TAO, offering quieter nights and often better rates than the coast. Just keep in mind: you’ll need transport to reach the beach and Old Town Antibes.
