about me
Hi, I’m Sarah
I’m the founder of Nice & Beyond, an English-language travel blog and guide specializing in Nice and the French Riviera.
As a certified teacher of French as a foreign language, hospitality professional, and longtime visitor to the Côte d’Azur, I help independent travelers plan better trips through detailed destination guides, practical itineraries, accommodation advice, and personalized travel planning services.
For decades, Nice has been one of the places closest to my heart. Over time, the city and the wider French Riviera have become a second home. After 30+ years of traveling to Nice, I know this stretch of Southern French coastline like the back of my hand.
The French Riviera, and Nice in particular, has been my summer playground for as long as I can remember.
It’s where I roller-skated down the promenade as a kid, where I went clubbing as a teen, where I spent – and spend – romantic weekends with my husband, where we went on both our babymoons, and where we vacation with our girls so they can make the same memories.

My background
Traveling is more than just a hobby for me; it’s also the red thread in my career
I’ve worked in the hotel industry as an internationally acclaimed receptionist and front office manager, then as a conference and event planner for one of Europe’s most prestigious private members’ clubs.
After becoming a mom, I joined the international office of a university college, where I helped students plan their exchange adventure to France and beyond.

My expertise in trip planning, paired with 30+ years of personal experience traveling to Nice and the French Riviera, gives
me an edge as a travel specialist. I offer more than generic travel advice: experience-based tips on hidden gems, authentic local experiences off the beaten path, and the nuances of Niçois culture that guidebooks often miss.
I can provide experience-based tips on hidden gems, recommend authentic local experiences off the beaten path, and navigate the nuances of Niçois culture that guidebooks often miss.
My mission
Helping you plan the most amazing trip to Nice and the French Riviera
I’m sharing my French Riviera expertise to help you plan the vacation of your dreams, whether that’s a romantic getaway, a family vacation, a city break, or a beach vacation.
In addition to destination advice and travel tips, I share detailed accommodation advice through my Where to Stay guides, including specific recommendations for Nice and the French Riviera. My experience as a luxury hotel professional and bespoke event planner has trained me to find the fine fleur of accommodations. My hand-picked selection comprises a balanced mix of romantic retreats, family-friendly vacation homes, cozy condos, and dreamy villas.
I don’t process bookings myself, but all accommodations are linked to Booking.com for your convenience.

My approach
I base my guides on firsthand experience, repeated visits to the French Riviera, and practical research
I personally visit the places I recommend whenever possible, take my own photographs, and focus on the details that help you make better decisions about where to stay, what to see, how to get around, and what is actually worth your time. These recommendations always have to match my own philosophy: take the time to properly discover a place and actually enjoy it, rather than rushing through a checklist.
That’s the standard behind every recommendation on this site: I prefer to recommend what I’ve tested myself, but that’s not always possible. When it isn’t, I do the research to make sure I’m dealing with an established business, and I check reviews across multiple platforms. I also check back regularly to confirm the activity is still running and that the experience still holds up. I’m selective about what makes the list: I only recommend what I’d book myself.
I apply the same standard to accommodation. My guide to family hotel rooms in Nice, for example, grew out of a gap I ran into myself while traveling with my own family. Have I personally slept in every room on that list? No. I’ve stayed in three or four at my own expense, and I fill in the rest with in-depth research so readers get as complete a picture as possible, including room size and bed configuration. For vacation rentals in Nice, I check that the mandatory registration number is displayed. And my Nice restaurant list mixes places I’ve personally eaten well at with a few still on my own list to try, which I flag directly in the article.
That transparency matters to me.
It’s how I keep the trust you, as a reader, place in my recommendations.
I haven’t accepted paid sponsorships to date. If that ever changes, I’ll disclose it clearly, here and in the article itself.
