How to get from Nice to Menton

The fastest way is by regional train (TER) from Nice-Ville to Menton. The ride takes around 40 minutes and runs frequently. From the station, it’s a 15-minute walk to the Old Town and the seafront.

Driving is another option, and takes around 35 minutes. Even in high season, we always manage to find parking, but arriving early is always recommended just in case.

Menton’s microclimate is famously mild: it’s one of the sunniest spots in France, even in winter.

  • Spring (April–June) and autumn (September–October) are ideal for sightseeing and garden visits, alternating your itinerary with a sunny terrace or a beachside picnic.
  • Summer (July–August) is perfect if you plan to stay for a beach afternoon or to explore the shaded streets of Old Town. However, it can be uncomfortably hot for extensive coastal walks or all-day exploration.
  • In winter (November–March), the town is much quieter, except during the famous Lemon Festival (Fête du Citron) in February, when Menton bursts into color and life with citrus sculptures and parades.

Walk or ride-share back to town to browse the shops in Rue Saint-Michel and indulge in a lemon tart from the iconic Mitron bakery.
  • Option B – Scenic coastal walk: Explore the scenic Cap Martin coastal walk, past Eileen Gray’s Villa E-1027 and Le Corbusier’s famous Cabanon.
