Cours Saleya market
Cours Saleya in the Old Town of Nice represents the quintessential Provençal market experience. This vibrant marketplace bursts with fragrant produce, local crafts, and colorful flowers from Tuesday to Sunday morning. It’s one of the top attractions in Nice.
On Monday, an antique market is held instead, and on summer nights, this picture-perfect square transforms into an artisanal market with an array of souvenirs, jewelry, and handicrafts on display.

Libération market

Cap 3000 (+ Galeries Lafayette Cap 3000)
Cap 3000 represents one of the region’s largest shopping complexes. It’s located right next to Nice – Côte d’Azur Airport. It’s the perfect excuse to head to the airport wayyyyy ahead of your scheduled flight time.
Tip: Make sure to head to the reception desk with your international passport to pick up a shopping pass that includes discounts and special treats at several shops (including the Galeries Lafayette department store).

Annual sales and shopping events in Nice
Nice follows the traditional French four-week-long sales periods. The discounts usually start at around 30-40 percent and climb towards 70 percent in the final days of the sales period.
Here’s when to score a deal:
Every year in the second half of September, there’s also La Grande Braderie. This 3-day shopping event features widespread discounts and street performances that transform retail into a festive experience.

There’s a similar 3-day shopping event called Nice Carnaval Days that takes place during the final days of the Carnival in Nice, the highlight of the local winter season.
Tax refunds for international shoppers
For non-European Union visitors and European visitors residing outside the European Union, France offers an attractive tax refund system that can significantly reduce shopping expenses. That refund ranges between 12 and 14.5 percent of the original VAT amount.
Not all retailers participate in this service, but most do, and only purchases over €100.01 in a single store (or a combined amount in a shopping mall) qualify. Be sure to present your passport in the shop before settling the payment so the cashier can provide you with a tax refund form.
Keep both this form and the original receipt. Also, keep the items unworn or unused with original tags.
If Nice is the last destination of your European trip, then you can get your tax refunded in the shopping malls (for the items purchased there) or at the Nice – Côte d’Azur airport. At the airport, there are self-service kiosks with a so-called PABLO system to arrange the refund.
